Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how IKTF ("IKTF", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects information about you when you use our mobile application and this website (together, the "Service"). We are committed to handling your information responsibly and in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
IKTF is built to recognise famous and public figures, not to identify or track private individuals. We process the images you submit only to return a result, and we don't sell your personal data.
01Who we are
The Service is operated by Flitzen Ltd ("the Company"), the publisher of IKTF. For the purposes of UK and EU data protection law, the Company is the "data controller" responsible for your personal data.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us using the details in the Contact us section below.
02Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Images you submit. Photos you capture with the live camera or upload from your gallery in order to run a recognition scan.
- Scan history. A record of your previous scans and results, stored so you can revisit them. This is associated with your device or account.
- Account information. If you create an account or subscribe, we may process an identifier, your subscription status, and related details.
- Usage & analytics data. How you interact with the Service, such as features used, session length and crash reports, to help us improve.
- Device & technical data. Device type, operating system, app version, language and similar technical identifiers.
- Communications. Information you provide when you contact support or give feedback.
03Face scanning & images
IKTF's core feature processes a facial image you provide to find a likely match among public figures. We want to be clear about how this works:
- The image is analysed to generate a result identifying a famous person. We use this processing solely to deliver the feature you requested.
- IKTF is not designed to identify members of the public or private individuals, and must not be used to do so (see our Terms of Service).
- We do not use the faces you scan to build an advertising profile of you, and we do not sell facial images.
- Where images are processed by our recognition providers, they are handled under contract and, wherever possible, transiently, used to return your result rather than retained indefinitely.
By submitting an image for scanning, you consent to that image being processed for recognition as described here. You can withdraw consent at any time by stopping use of the feature and deleting your scan history.
04How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide the core recognition feature and return your results;
- Maintain your scan history and account;
- Operate, maintain, secure and improve the Service;
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- Process subscriptions and prevent fraud or misuse;
- Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.
05Legal bases for processing
Under the UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent: for processing the facial images you choose to submit for recognition.
- Performance of a contract: to provide the Service you have requested, including subscriptions.
- Legitimate interests: to secure, analyse and improve the Service, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation: where we must process data to comply with the law.
07Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy. Your scan history is retained until you delete it or close your account. Images submitted for recognition are retained no longer than needed to provide and improve the result. Analytics and technical data are kept for limited periods, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
08Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate data;
- Request erasure of your data ("right to be forgotten");
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Request portability of your data;
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent;
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.
09Deleting your data
You can delete individual scans from your history within the app at any time. To request deletion of your account and associated personal data, use the in-app deletion option where available, or email us at [email protected] with the subject "Data deletion request". We will verify your request and delete your data except where we are required to retain it by law.
10Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss or misuse, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and review our measures regularly.
11International transfers
Your information may be processed outside the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area by our service providers. Where this happens, we put in place safeguards required by law, such as UK International Data Transfer Agreements or Standard Contractual Clauses, to ensure your data remains protected.
12Children
The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
13Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
